Comment : John was a delegate to the General Assembly 1775,
Brigadier General 1776, Deputy to the State Legislature 1776, Justice
of the Peace 1778, Magistrate 1778. In his Will, dated 3-10-1803,
he left the plantation "Clarke's Purchase" to his son John, and gave
slaves to Anne, George and Thomas. The rest of his estate was
divided equally among these 3. Elizabeth had died young. Pedigrees:

ancestral home. They were the grandparents of Jane Wilkinson Long,
"The Mother of Texas" and the greatgrandparents of Confederate General,
