SPANN FAMILY DISTRIBUTION
Here is an interesting and useful little map that shows where our family members
lived, at least according to the telephone book in 1990.
There are other distributions as well, according to the census for 1850, 1880, and 1920.
You can also use this little map for other families in whom you are interested.
For a list of actual places that bear our family's name, go the
GNIS. Enter Spann as the Feature Name and press "Send
Query". It lists some of the places our ancestors have been where they were thought well enough of, to have the place
named for them. When the list comes up, click on one of the locations. For a local map, choose "Show Feature Location".
There you will have access to two maps. The bottom one, which is the one you want, tends to load slowly, so be
patient. And of course, when all else fails, read the instructions.
