Andreas Yates b. 1773 Schenectady N.Y. had a son named Elwin Yates b. 1829 Attica N.Y. who married Thirza Stone b.
1833 Attica N.Y. I believe they were married in Stockton California aprox 1856? They had Flora b. 1859, Anna b. 1872
and Lucia b. 1876 (all in Stockton, CA). Does anyone have any information on these people. I am a Yates born in California
but we don't have many Yates in Northern California. My father was Ralph E. Yates b. 1907 Stockton (but can't find anything

wife Teresa/Tarissa/Terissa Winslett (b 1818, GA) The 1860 Census, Tallapoosa
Co.,AL lists James Yates 46, Teressa 45, James H 16, Albert H 15, Mary W13,
Martha T 12, Amanda Y 11, Nancy 9, Augustus 8, McDaniel 7, David 3, Margaret 3.
Martha is my ggrandmother, she married John Wilson Pepper. They migrated
to Rusk County, TX, where she died in 1890. Her grave bears the Seal of the
Cherokee Nation. I would love to know more if anyone's come across them

CLARA, JOHN, LOUISA YATES
My great grandfather (Paschal Chapel Newell) married a Clara Dye or Clara Yates (Yeats/Yeates?). Clara was born supposedly in 1836 in
Pulaski, KY. Parents may have been John Yates and Rachael Meece-Mease or Meeks?. Clara had brother John, born 1838, and sister Louisa
born 1934. John and Racheal may have married in 19 Mar 1841 in Pulaski, KY. I am searching for information on my Clara - who married a James
Thompson, then Alexander Dye and then my great grandfather Newell. My father told me his grandpa's wife was of Cherokee descent.
Someone went on the Trail of Tears (perhaps Clara's mother - but I am not POSITIVE who she was). I would appreciate any verifiable
information. I believe Clara was buried in Coles Co, Illinois and not in Kentucky. Thank you.

DAVID YATES
I had a grandfather: David Yates, born in Culpepper Va in 1774, came to
Ross County in Ohio in about 1790 with Thomas Worthington, and others
(he was first
governor of Ohio) and had a large farm, sold whiskey to the Indians from
his mill of
Deer Creek in Williamsport, Ohio and had lots of children and died in
1840. Family
is getting thin in Ohio, but know lots about the Central Ohio Yates.

J.R. FRANK YATES
I am trying to research my family and I am stuck at J.R. Frank Yates. Per his death certificate here in Maine it said he was born in KY dec 20
1866 and died on June 1 1933 in Bangor Maine. From talking to the few surving direct grandchildren of his, (My grandfather and his cousins)
all they could recall was that Franks wife was called Mary (they believe it would be Butterfield surname for her but not sure)

MARY ELLEN YATES HAYDEN
Since my last query I have learned a great deal more about this lady. She
was the second wife of Bernard Lafayette Hayden m 1855 in Leonardstown,
St.Mary's Co., Md. She was b in Leonardstown 1834 d. 1855 in Omaha, Nb. She
filed for divorce from Hayden in 1862. It seems he shot a man in the knee
and the man died of his wounds. Bernard Hayden died sometime before 1866.
It is thought he was hung for his crime. Mary Ellen Yates moved to Omaha to
be with a brother ? , probably after the divorce. Who were Mary Ellen's
parents? What branch of Yates does she come from? Does any one have a clue?

Willis Yates of Cane Hill, Arkansas. His father was Nicholas Yates
borm in
l790 in Virginia and Died in Cane Hill, Ark. His father was Benjamin
Yates
who died in l8l5 or l8l6 in Greene Co. Tennessee. I am searching for
Benjamin's father. I will gladly share a complete family line that I

WILLIAM NEWTON YATES
No one wants to claim my William Newton Yates bn abt 1799 as a member of
their family. What does that say.
Well I've searched every YATES in KY around the time of his marriage to
Malinda Banta in July 1833 Madison Co. KY. I think I've exhausted that
avenue.
I tried walking in his shoes they say "birds of a kind flock together".
Yates-Banta-DonCarlos all intermarried. Since BANTA settled in
Boonesborough on the KN River and it was the first Ferry, DONCARLOS
bought property on the Little TN River and YATES went to Mobile,AL after
his
marriage wrote Lousianna State Univer to check recorda for Ship Reg. and
enrollments. They found one Robt. E. YATES one of the owners of the
Elizabeth built in Hardin Co. KY 1819. So back to KY and it turned out
negative.

Notice the above Wilmuth DONCARLOS that married Henry Newton YATES she

the daughter of Carter and Tilitha BANTA DONCARLOS. Tilitha and Malinda
were sisters making Wilmuth and Henry YATES cousins.
So far I've hit that stone wall. I do see one possibility perhaps he is
in the 1840 census. What else do you see that I should ckeck out?

MILES YATES
I am researching my YATES line that (so far) goes back to Miles YATES. I have
no other information on Miles YATES other than his marriage license with Deborah ( Debby ) HOLMES. This was in Kingston, Roane County, TN 28 Aug. 1840. The license is listed as "no reutrn", so I don't know if they married in another county or what. Debby's parents were John and Lydia (Register) HOLMES, also of Roane County, TN. I have been searching for information on Miles for many years with no luck. I am not even sure of his age, but Debby was born in 1825. I don't know, it may have been that Miles was his middle name or something like that. County, VA married Courtney Deal/Deel, daughter of Richard, in 1787 in
Russell County, VA. Courtney was born c. 1762/63 in Ireland and died on 6
Mar 1862 in Buchanan County, VA. John Smith Yates could be the son of George
Yates. This is based on property records found in Halifax County. However, I
could have this John mixed up with another John.

THOMAS YATES
I am trying to find a missing link in my Yates line. I begin with Thomas Yates who served in the Revolutionary War. He had brothers named William and James and a sister named Keziah. She married a William Roper of Caswell County, North Caroline, August 31, 1781. Their father was John Yates also of Caswell County. The brothers later moved to Robertson County, TN. They were the principal founders of said county. William married 1st.Agnes Price in Virgina and had 11 children, then married Rachel Childress. Children were:
John, Polly, Sarah (Sally), William, Milly, Elizabeth, Patsy, James, Agnes, Nelly, Ida or Iday. Then I skip a spot and have Charles Yates, father of my gggrandfather Robert Yates dob 5/2/1831. LENORA ISABL YATES
I have just started my search and found that my great-great
grandmother was Lenora Isabl Yates. I'm not sure where she was born but I do
know she lived in AL, married William Phelps and they had at least two
children. Martha Irine Phelps was my great grandmother. She lived in or
around Elba, AL and was married to Johnny L. Long. I understand the Phelps
were landowners in Elba. Both Martha and Johnny are buried in Elba. I guess
it would help to give you a few dates - Martha was born March 29, 1870;
married Johnny January 23, 1888; and died December 14, 1924. She is buried at
the Damascus Church Cemetary in Elba, AL. I'm not sure where to look for the
information I seek. If you have any information on these people I would truly

Looking for Charles YATES'S parents please. Charles was born at St Pancras, Middlesex, ENG., 1817. He married Sarah DEWHURST 21 May 1849, MDX, ENG., prior to sailing on the 'NAVARINO' for Australia. It states on their marraige cert. that Charles's father, also known as Charles, was 'dead' at this time!!
Could please, anyone give me some clues on how to find out who his
parents were. I have had NO success so far on this YATES family, which means I can go further. Must be someone out there who knows something on this YATES
